Have you ever stopped to consider what success truly means to you? Is it the accumulation of wealth, fame, and material possessions? Or is it something deeper, something more profound and fulfilling?

The truth is, success means something different to everyone. For some, it may mean achieving financial stability, while for others, it may mean making a positive impact on the world. But regardless of what success means to you, the path to achieving it lies in the micro-moments.

It’s the small, split-second decisions that ultimately shape our lives and determine our success. It’s the decision to take that first step towards a new opportunity, the decision to express our love for someone, the decision to speak truth to power. These moments may seem insignificant, but they have the power to transform our lives in profound ways.

However, the journey towards success is not an easy one. Growth is uncomfortable, and our ancient neurobiological brain architecture is designed to prevent us from taking risks and stepping out of our comfort zones. But without growth, we stagnate, and eventually, we may be consumed by regret about the direction of our lives.

Regret is the result of living with the life we settle for, rather than the life we truly want. In fact, when asked about their biggest regrets, those at a nursing home listed five main regrets, including not pursuing their dreams and not staying in touch with friends and family.

As educators, we entered the field with the intention of making a lasting mark on the world. But in the busyness of our day-to-day lives, it’s easy to lose sight of our purpose and settle for mediocrity. But today is the day to reclaim our purpose, to step into the fullest potential of who we can be, and to live our lives with passion and drive.

Success is not about accumulating wealth or fame. It’s about living a life that six-year-old you would be amazed by and 80-year-old you would be proud of. It’s about leaving behind a trail of positivity and making a positive impact on the world.

So, what is success to you? Is it achieving financial stability, making a positive impact on the world, or something else entirely? Whatever it may be, the path to achieving it lies in the micro-moments. It’s the small, split-second decisions that ultimately shape our lives and determine our success. Today is the day to embrace those moments and live the life we truly want.
